First Senior's Quilt Finished.

I am so excited to be able to say the first of the senior's quilt is finished as of about 20 minutes ago.

Can't wait to give this quilt to a well deserving member of our country.

Lets take a look at the quilt before I tell you where its going.

I decided to go with a nine patch block and thought a good size was to make ...nine blocks.

Back a while ago I won a spool of variegated King Tut tread on a blog give away. I thought this would look lovely used on all the multi coloured blocks.

Just love how the tread has come up on the blocks.

This quilt has a special place in my heart as I am sending it to Sydney for Pa's 90th birthday on the 4th March. Pa lives in a little unit a street over from his daughter and her family.

Pa has been such a lovely/wonderful father in law to me for 29 years now. Remember he bought me my sewing cabinet when he came across for Amy & Ben's wedding.

I can't think of a more deserving person for this quilt to be given too.

Label on the back of the quilt. Tomorrow the quilt will be posted off to Pa and I know he'll love using it on those cool days and evening listening to the TV.

My next project is three 12 inch sampler blocks. Its a surprise and I am not saying anything else as I don't want to get back to the person it's for.

Once these are made, I'll start the second senior's quilt.

Rubs hands together... I am so excited about this project.

A New Dear Jane Block

I was so pleased last night to be able to finally make another Dear Jane block. A couple of times I have planned to make a block and something has happened.

Bachelor Button

Last night I thought stuff it, I'm making a block while Rambo 3 was on. Nothing like a relaxing movie to help make a block.

I picked this block as its one I use needle turn with.

I really hope its not a long time before I make another block.

More Farmer's Wife Blocks

With it being so hot outside the last few days, I thought I'd make a couple of Farmer's Wife blocks.

Its more time consuming cutting out the templates and cutting the fabric, this was done yesterday .

Bat Wing
Block 5

I used some of the fabric I ordered and showed you in my last post for this block.

Big Dipper
Block 6

Six blocks and 105 to go....lol.

Now I'm off to set up a Dear Jane block as I'll do the needle turn in this while watching Rambo 3 tonight. Nothing like a quiet movie to help those stitches flow smoothly. eek

Can There Ever Be Too Much Fabric??

Over the last few dads my dad & step mum have been staying with us. Lots of traffic from family here in Adelaide wanting to catch up with both dad & Betty. Not a lot of time for sewing here.

Deb called in with her daughter and 8 week old granddaughter, as introductions between Charlotte and her Great Grandparents was planned as a surprise. Dad & Betty also got to meet Super Coop for the first time.

Anyway Deb & I had put an order in together for some fabric in the scrap bag section at Craft Town. Couldn't have worked in any better as the fabric arrived at Deb's place last Tuesday.

I scored 5 yards of Red Rooster and Deb decided to go with 5 yards of Thimbleberries fabric.

We both ordered a civil war reproduction scrap bag each. A couple of the fabrics were the same.

The fabric that we didn't double up on, we cut down the middle and had a 1/2 yard each.

Into my civil war reproduction fabric box it has now been stored.

This is a good place to put things, as I am always looking for a misplaced item that doesn't go in a box. I now am looking for my rotating cutting board. Starting to think its keeping company with my "purple thang" that is still missing.

For Amy

Finally I have finished a table topper for Amy. I was thrilled when she asked me to make one.

There is insabrite (not sure on the spelling) confused between the layers. Amy wanted something nicer than a tea towel for when she places a hot dish on the table.

Mum to the rescue and I so hope she likes the fabrics I picked.

Yesterday we were out and about and happened to pass Hettie's Patch and this was just so tempting. Tempted I was and look what I bought myself.

Nothing like a get well gift to one's self. When Pat was in hospital last year I bought him 1 jelly roll and 2 charm packs....lol.

This time it was 1 metre of fabric from Little Gatherings, to be used as a background fabric in this quilt top.

The other fabric was .5 of a metre from the clearance area. Bought that because I wanted it. :)

Sure made me feel good buying myself a get well gift.

I'm going to use scrap fabric from the scrap bin box for the applique parts.

Its lovely to be back sewing again. Just need to get myself back into a routine and then its full steam ahead.

Have A Heart.

Aren't these flowers beautiful? They are from Amy, Ben & Cooper.

Last Sunday I spent the day with Pat at home, he wasn't feeling all that good and so I gave Mass a miss and spent the day with him.

Sewing and making a mess in my sewing room This was to be tidied up that night.

My sewing room this morning.

Sunday evening I called an ambulance, not for Pat but for myself, I had chest pains.

After a 3 day stay with vampires sneaking in at night and through out the day every 4 or 6 hours. ECG tests and on my finally day a stress test I was given the diagnosis of angina. Due to me never even trying to smoke, I was told I would have been in the hospital 10 years earlier. The heart specialist looked at the family history and was told I coped a raw deal.

I have already started to tweak my diet even more.....no more bacon fat, love the pork fat on a grilled loin chop lamb or pork. Diet/caffeine coke is not being kept in the house now either. I can drink it but only socially. Hey do I have a social life???? Gee have to think about this. Water is my new vice:)

I'm on 4 tablets a day now for my heart and I have to carry a spray with me at all times for angina attacks. Black and blue on my arms and tummy from needles. Now I know how my stitchery feels.

Since my release mid last week I have resting and coming to terms with my own mortality. Been so busy caring for Pat I haven't paid 100% to myself.

Hearing yesterday at Mass one of the parishioners had died last week. This made me so sad and at the same time I thought "this could have been me". When I think of something I am giving up by my choice, I see my beautiful "Super Cooper" and this gives me the strength to say no. I have so many things I want to teach that little boy and so much love for my family, not to give anything less than 110% in doing the right thing.

While in hospital my win from Clare's Craftroom arrived and Patrick was happy to see my excitement as I opened my prize. Couldn't have come at a better time.

I love the Tilda range of books and thank you so much Clare for my win. If you haven't checked out her blog, go and have a look.

Also Clare sent me these two cute fabrics. Love them and HUGGLES to you Clare.

So there you have it, my week that was. Oh yeah been playing a lot of a game on face book too.

This afternoon, I am going to tidy my sewing room up and tomorrow for the first time in 4 weeks I'm off to sewing with the girls. Due to heat and health reasons I haven't been. Hope I sleep tonight.

A Little HUGGLE For Teddy

This little guy has an embarrassing problem. Too embarrassing to show you, also it took me a bit to get his new pants on him.

Nice and snug, bit like John Travolta's pants on Saturday Night Fever.

Teddy has a stain on his crotch and the owner's wife asked me to make him some pants. Poor teddy, not sure how it happened but I could see it needed fixing.

Tomorrow teddy goes home to his owner, who is a retired gentleman. I must ask the wife how old teddy is. I wonder if he is older than 60 or younger?

I still have my teddies and they are 49 years old this year. Do you still have your teddy from when you were a child?

Quilt Patterns

You would have to agree with me, that waiting and then receiving an order in the mail is so exciting.

I have for a few months been drooling over this pattern and now with Christmas out of the way, I ordered it.

There are lots of patterns in the craft magazines that I have liked. But not like this one and the fact I now have the pattern in my hot little hands says everything.

Bonus was a buy 1 pattern and get one free.

I picked this pattern for my free one and it too is lovely and a must to make at some stage in my life time.
