On Sunday I had a chance to catch up with Kylie who was generous to make these little and big softies for the HUGGELS for the Grantham Primary School.

Lovely and bright Kylie, thanks so much for making them.

These little dogs came with no faces and having a chat with the maker I made up these little tags. Thought a child drawing his/her little friend's face on will make them all look different.

Check them out!!! All up there are 70 softies flying out this coming Thursday. Many thanks to Dawn and Khris who are going to take them and deliver them to the Grantham Primary School.

I am so proud of our effort and you ladies are awesome. Love you all so much for your kindness and giving.

Always a child who needs a HUGGLE, so if you want to make one or two you are most welcome and they will be included in the next drive. Where ever that is.

HUGGLES To Go Next Week.

Another day was spent at Khris' finishing off the binding on a couple of quilts and popping labels onto the 10 we have made.

Great ideas are formed when sitting around quilting and we're going to make another 2 before they are taken to Queensland next week. So the next couple of days will be spent making these 2 quilts with anyone who can help from the ladies who have been putting in hours so far.

You can see our quilts that are finished on Khris' blog

I am so humbled to be involved in this amazing journey with a fantastic group of women. From not only here in Australia but also overseas who have donated blocks, fabric and money for wadding.

The HUGGLES are getting ready to be taken to Queensland next week by Dawn. Many thanks Dawn for taking them with you and Khris who will be up there a couple of days later and will take them to the Grantham School.

Karen has sent me these cats and a blue elephant. I love the bright fabrics and they are so cute. Thank you so much Karen for you lovely gift.

Bluegreen who I have met many times and is from our gardening forum made these adorable little deers. Very cute and thank you so much for your lovely gift.

I still have some more HUGGLES coming on Sunday from Kylie.

We as a group should be very proud of our effort. mrgreen

Finished Items.

Have you been busy lately? I have and now I can show you why. As you know I have my 6 coat hanger rule and some of my projects just needed finishing off.

That is why I have been so quiet on the craft, quilting and gardening forums. Goodness only knows how many blogs I need to catch up with on my Google Reader

I've been hiding with my sewing machine. Hand binding flood relief quilts (photos soon) we made ten quilts. Not only learnt so much with the girls but I have felt a sense of pride in our work.

Back to what I have been busy with at home. I started a wall hanging back before August of last year. It was taken with me to Tuesday's sewing morning or to Friday's sewing day. I like to take a stitchery on those days.

For a while it was hanging finished on the coat hanger and I just had to wait on seeing my sister Debbie. She scored a beautiful wall hanger for me to use from a quilting shop in Burra. The hearts is what sold me on it.

All finished and now hangs on the wall in the lounge room.

The hanging sleeve I made, I had to get instructions from Debbie as there was none with the pattern. Not everyone knows what and how to hang a wall hanging and so those instructions would have been handy with the project in the magazine.

Then after all the quilts I have been making, it was time to take the step and finish off my Bennington quilt from the book, Schnibbles Time Two.

Finished hand binding the back this afternoon. I just love the Luna Notte range by Moda.

Just such a stunning colour range and so beautiful to sew with.

Backing fabric was a clearance one from Spotlight. Would have loved to use a fabric from the Luna Notte range..... but this was not to be. I do think the backing fabric I picked goes rather well with the Moda though.

All that is left of Amy & Ben's baby quilt is the binding to be hand sewn on the back.

I feel like I have joined a special group of people now. I usually say I sew craft items.... now I can say "I am a quilter" and I say this with pride.

The piglets have been on an adventure too. Their blog was updated this morning.

Dawn Is Having A Sale

Over on Dawn's blog there is a pattern sale happening. Get your mouse clicking on As Sweet As Cinnamon site and get your lovely patterns. mrgreen

I Won This

Look what arrived in the mail for me. Thank you so much Norma for your give away and you are such a clever lady. Norma that tissue box is just awesome. I'm such a big fan of Blue Wrens:) I've already bought some of those aloe vera tissues and pop in and the tissue box will take pride and place on my head board in the bedroom. Also Norma popped little straps of Velcro underneath and when I lift the tissue box cover, the tissue box doesn't fall out.

Love the threads as well. Thank you, thank you and thank you.

Thank you also to everyone who commented on my baby quilt. You have just made me feel so special about my first quilt.

Today its lightly raining and very humid, so another day inside for comfort.

Going to have a look at my coat hanger idea. I seemed to have a lot of these BOMs I am involved in, hanging off them. This is not what those coat hangers are for. BOMs are to be done monthly and have a finishing date on them. My other projects don't. So I'll have a look see and see what is happening in this area.

Need to start this months hexi pretty are they and so enjoyable to stitch.

I had planned on finishing my wall hanging this week. Deb found a lovely wall hanger at her local quilting shop. But they are flooded in after all the rain up north and can't get out and are busy cleaning up and looking at the stock. So my wall hanging stitchery will just have to wait a few more weeks.

Whom The Quilt Tolls For

Another warm day here today and so I decided to start my neighbour's baby quilt. Their second baby (a boy) is due next month.

After helping and learning from Khris with the flood quilts, I thought I could do this and wasn't worried at all.

As the day went by and the quilt was taking shape, I first finished quilt is going to a family I am not related to. This had me saying to Pat before I was finished adding the boarders, this quilt was now going to be given to Ben & Amy instead.

So my first completed quilt is going to our grandson due in early June. Rightly so too.

This leaves me less than 4 weeks to replace the fabric for the baby next door. There is still another 5 pictures of this print.

Our kitchen table wasn't big enough to sandwich together and the floor was the next best place.

Cats were curious to see me down on my poor old knees. Harley was probably thinking ...sweet...a quilt for me.

All finished and quilted, just the binding to go. How about that!!! I have quilted my first quilt!!!

Ran out of blue spotty fabric so I did what a lot of quilters do, I improvised.

I stippled the quilt, very happy with the end result. I was amazed how easy I found stippling the quilt, as I have only done small items in the past.

Now I have to just find the right fabric for the binding. Can't wait to show the kids mrgreen. Who's a clever Nanna?????? ...hehehehe

Nine Patch Quilt

I spent the day at Khris' and between us we finished off this 9 patch quilt top. I'm standing behind the quilt holding it up.

Another quilt for the flood appeal.

Photo is a bit washed out, its black, white and red fabric.

Learnt heaps again today about making a quilt and this has made me even more excited about these baby quilts I want to start.

Out Of The Box Block 2

Finished tonight and I am so happy with the look of it. This is the second block in Dawn & Vicki's Out Of The Box BOM.

The centre of the flower on the top left I have used a colonial knot to fill in this area.

I am finding this BOM very restful and enjoyable and I am so sure this is what the girls are hoping for.

New BOM For 2011

This month starts the new BOM over on OurCraftForum by Dawn from As Sweet as Cinnamon.

The block is just so me as I love stars. My dream one day is to make a star quilt.

I am so proud of this block as my points are spot on. Well from my eyes they are. razz

The blocks go for 9 months and this year an extra block each month can be made with the scraps. Dawn has thought of everything this year. I will also be making the extra blocks each month.

Fabric I have used is Moda (wouldn't ya Bar Harbor. One of the first charm packs I bought.

I had so much fun picking the 4 charm squares for each block last night. I was drooling over those lovely squares and having a grand time matching them up.

Also more HUGGLES have arrived and photos will be coming hopefully to a computer near you later today.
