Breast Of friends Block 3

I am so excited about the 3rd block in my Breast of Friends quilt, that I am going to show you what it looks like so far.

All I need to so is the blanket stitch, the little wording part on the left and the boarder.

Reason I have shown you this is when I put all three blocks together........... I got a wow factor from them.

I am so pleased with the outcome of the colours I have chosen for my quilt.

My sister Debbie is also making this quilt and we're doing them together. So pop over to her blog and she can tell you all about what will happen to these 2 quilts, when we fall of the perch in years to come. lol

Later on today I'll draw out the new winner for my "Birthday Give Away" as Diana didn't contact me.

Block Three

Looks like I got very serious here doesn't it? rolleyes

I took this photo as I was happy with the end result and its my colours for the 3rd block in the Breast of Friends quilt.

Going to print the picture off, so I have a photo record of where I want what colour.

Now the fun starts, getting the applique sorted and then I can sit back with my feet up in the evenings and blanket stitch the appliques.

Its taken me 2 days to get this far as I have been busy else where around the place. I have a list as long as my arm of garden playing I want to do in the next couple of days. I started earlier today plus those inside jobs.

So need more hours in my day.

Better get the photo printed off and the fabric away from the cat's temptation.

Breast Of friends Block 2

I am very please to show you the second block in the series of the Breast Of Friends.

If you know this block you'll be able to see a few changes in it. I have changed the following.

  • The pom pom on the second ladies hat is 2 strands of dark green and 2 strands of light green DMC. I used the colonial stitch for the pom pom. I didn't want to use a real pom pom.

  • Necklace on the first lady is DMC thread with colonial knots again. I didn't want to use beads.

  • Also the 3rd lady has red hair and not yellow tones, due to my background fabric.

I used 1 strand for the blanket stitch and all stitchery but the hair, this was 2 strands to give it a fuller look.

Debbie and I are now ready to move forward. I am going to look at block 3 and tomorrow I hope to be able to start picking my fabric and start the applique side of the block.

Breast Of friends Update

Its hot here in Adelaide, today's temp was 44.8 and Pat & myself spent the day hiding from the heat and keeping the animals outside cool as we can make them....... short of popping them inside the house.

So I have been spending the last couple of days working on my Breast Of Friends, block 2.

Only the fine tuning of the block to go and so I picked out and cut the boarder pieces this afternoon.

I went to get something from the sewing room, as I am mucking around in the room where the a/c is running.

Look what I found when I came back.

Little Millie (my Grand kitty) sitting on my Breast Of Friends block.

I like to think Millie is putting her stamp of approval on the 2nd block.....lol. Planing to place her stake for when the quilt is finished and able to be used.

Hoping to have it finished and posted here in the next few days. I am taking it tomorrow to sewing morning. Can't wait to show the girls.

Hexagon Swaps

I've been busy since Christmas finishing off or even going as far as catching up on swaps.

I was snowed under in December and Suziwong was lovely enough to wait until her hexi was finished.

My hexi to Suzie is on the left and the one Suzie sent on the right. That was the December swap.

January's swap was almost twins. Mine to Ondrea on the left and the one Ondrea sent me is on the right.

Both of these will be posted off tomorrow.

As you can see we have been swapping hexagons for 7 months now and its still as popular as when we started. I thought I'd pop a photo up, to give people an idea of what sort of theme is developing.

The little brown cat hexi came from Switzerland. I can't get over the fact one I made is over there too.

I love these hexagons and have so enjoyed seeing other people's as well. This little swap has helped me so much with my hand sewing too.
