For Josephine

Last Saturday morning our place was used for my niece's kitchen tea. Lots of fun and laugher and a fabulous time was enjoyed by all that came.

My daughter Amy and Jo are as close as sisters and Amy is Jo's Matron of Honour this coming Saturday. Back in May of this year Josephine was Maid of Honour in Amy's wedding.

I had the pleasure of making an apron that Jo wore and all the ladies to sign on the day.

I also made a zipper bag as a mystery prize in the fun games we played.

For a kitchen tea gift I made Josephine a pot holder. I used two 5 inch blocks of Moda's Gobble Gobble as a centre piece.

Josephine is like a daughter to both Pat & I as she often spent her school holidays with us. We are so looking forward to next weekend, when she walks towards her future husband.

I've some other swaps finished, but the night lighting isn't the best for taking photos. I'll post them tomorrow once I have some good photos of the 2 hexi swaps.

First Pieced Quilt & Reward

I have been quilting and making lovely items for almost 2 years. Think its time I try a pieced quilt. I have a charm pack of Luna Notte that I fell in love with on my last trip to Hettie's Patch.

Today I bought some extra fabric in some of these colours for a small quilt.

I love the feel and colours of Moda Fabric. It was so hard picking out some of the colours I wanted to add to the charm pack. I am going to start this once I have my table runners and other Christmas gifts finished.

Great way to get my mojo in high drive, so I can start the quilt.

Also I have lost 2 kilo of weight and I have decided to reward myself with some Moda fabric. I figured 1/4 of a metre per 500 grams was a good first time reward.

I love the French General ...Rural Jardin by Moda. I picked these 4 as my reward for the weight loss.

Also today I posted off to Donna in America, the "Friends" swap goodies I have made for her. I can't wait for her to recieve them. Post Office said 7 to 10 working days until it arrives. So keep your eyes open for a parcel Donna. mrgreen

A New Blog

I have a new blog about my weight and how I am going to loose a stack of it.

Weight Lost Life Gained is a record of my life style change and I am happy to share it with anyone who wants to see my journey and maybe it may inspire someone to do the same.

Zip-a-do-da Zip-a-dee-day

Who's a clever chickie babe????? mrgreen

Yesterday I was shown how to sew a zipper into a little bag. I have one from Geniene and I love it to bits. The little "Spring Magic" Moda cupcake roll she sent me last year was begging to be used in something special and special is what the strips were used in.

Amy & Ben gave me some goodies in a pretty box for Christmas 2008 to help me out when I first started sewing. One of the items were some zippers. Never sewn a zipper before and so I was amazed how simple they are it pop into a bag.

Sides were already cut and sewn during the week, to make it easier on the day.

This is my bag, one of many I am sure I'll just go crazy making. Already I have ideas and designs floating or should I say spinning around in my head.

Inside I used yellow fabric with white shapes on the fabric for the lining. This bag will be used for carrying sewing goodies from my place to where ever I walk or travel.

Khris instructed me on how to put the sides, zipper and lining together. Then I made the second one by myself, just so I remembered the whole concept of putting it together.

This one is a stocking filler for Amy. She's a pink girl and I am sure she'll love the bag. The fabric its sitting on, Ben & Amy gave to me as a stocking filler last year for Christmas.

I used that as the liner for Amy's bag.

So glad I thought to make a second bag for me to make on my own. As I sewed it back to front eek on one side. LOL

Far too much laughing and talking at the table yesterday. lol

There is enough fabric left over to make another one.

I'm thinking of a blue zipper bag for Ben's mum, to go with her Christmas table runner.

Mystery Charm BOM

Been so busy with all this lovely weather out in my garden, that I haven't posted a photo of last months BOM. Didn't help being late making it either. eek

This one was for Trish. Lovely fabric, very pretty colours.

Today I made this months and it'll be posted ASAP. I want to show it to Dawn tomorrow at quilting. Thought it would be nice to show Dawn on of the blocks in her BOM that she is running for us.

Barb's fabric is the Moda Nostalgic and its what I picked for my BOMs as well. We both have great taste.

Also I have made a couple of oven mitts for the kitchen over the weekend and started a couple of thingies.

This is the fabric I have picked for my thingies. Love that word thingies, as until they are completed on Friday....that is all you going to know about them.

Khris is going to teach me how to put it all together. I've used a little roll of Moda "Spring Magic" that Geniene gave me in last years Advent swap. I wanted to make something special with it.

I have linked a lot of blogs here today, if you haven't been to their blogs, please have a look as they are very clever women.
